Hey everyone!
As promised, here’s some pics to summarize the past few months. I’ve been slacking on my photos–I either don’t have my phone on me or don’t think about capturing things. I think that’s an artifact of getting used to my village and region. But, pictures are such a good reference point, make me happy, and push me to look at everything with a fresh perspective. So when I don’t take as many I know I’m not taking enough time for myself or I’m in a bit of a rut.
Anyway…
I’ve spent lots of time at the river, cooking food (eating food), celebrating African Child’s day, traveling to new places, teaching, reteaching, re-reteaching, and enjoying.

Nothing quite like a fresh lemon.
Especially to make lemon bars!

Went to Lusaka, Zambia in June. I think the population is bigger than everyone in Namibia, so that was a different feeling.
This was the bus depot. It was hard to capture the hustle and bustle but I had to escape from the throngs by eating at this upstairs cafe.

Term 2 is also sports season for netball, soccer, and volleyball. At this tournament we hosted, both volleyball and soccer won 1st place (and I somehow became the volleyball ref…I was unbiased, I swear!)
Winter means hot chocolate, all the time.
Movie nights with my favorite ladies.
Starting my garden! So far: basil. Next up: beets and carrots.

Happiness is having 4 kittens sleeping on your lap at once… (no, I didn’t keep one)

Celebration of African child’s day at my school. The kids were afraid of the shade (granted, it’s very very cold in the morning). They had skits, songs, dancing, music. It was a really cool cultural event and it was awesome to see my kids performing and presenting in a different environment than the classroom.
Natalie almost gets the video call concept…
My favorite place to work/use wi-fi in town! Nice shady garden spot.
Take 5 of the school staff trying to get a cute pic in our new shirts (I’m worried about being late for class, as usual).
Talk soon!
